The Public Theater is famous for its consistent deliverance of sterling materials to the theatre cannon. BARBECUE, The new play by Robert O’Hara (BootyCandy), which just opened at The Newman Theatre at The Public is sure to be a member of this list, for it is the new touchstone of the American Theater.

Hie thee to the Brooks Atkinson theatre to witness Tyne Daly surrounded by a slew of delightful performances in what is Broadway’s best cast comedy. It Shoulda Been You is the wedding from hell, but still heavenly theatre.

The sum of its parts is stunning; The whole is even better. Go see the new musical play “iOW@” at Playwrights Horizons as it is to surely prompt thinking that no piece of theatre has ever done before. As nonsensical as it may seem, it has audiences talking about it for days after the curtain fell.

This 90-minute comedic musical captures the life of Bill and Hillary amidst the president’s two terms in office, complete with WhiteWater, HealthCare Reform, and Monica. No situation is off limits, and no joke is too cheap. It balances the line of stupidity and pure hilarity (Hillarity.) But is worth the trip to New World Stages.
