Mingling with the season of sparkling lights and colorful ornaments, the spreading of tidings of great joy, and the vocal power of raising the rafters with song, we celebrated all of that and more at 54 Below this past Saturday. It was a brunch of love and grace and music that can fill the heart and soul and lift and carry you to another place. This is the way to start the holidays! Or any day! Lift you on high!

Rashad McPherson & Friends in a Gospel Brunch, Christmas Edition at 54 Below lifted the room, the building, and the street. This was 54 Below’s inaugural Gospel Brunch and all I can say is, YES, YES, and YES to it. Yes and more!

Rashad McPherson is himself a force to be reckoned with. He is Haley’s Comet tearing across the sky spreading light and love. Rashad with his marvelous band, supporting singers, and guest artists, created a happening of hand clapping, arm waving, music, and connection. We were encouraged to join in the music in so many open and noble ways we rose from our chairs often, rising to an ultimate inconceivable jubilation. And it was not just significant gospel songs but Christmas classics rearranged and reconsidered with a new depth to them. It was a stupendous celebration leaving everyone smiling from ear to ear with arms waving white cloth napkins of approval and glory.

The menu for the brunch classic with a touch of southern; avocado toast, shrimp and grits, eggs benedict,  buttermilk waffles, salad, croissants, … enough choices to please all. Good food and music and surrounded by strangers who quickly become friends was the afternoon at 54 Below!

Rashad McPherson & Friends in Gospel Brunch are all artists at the top of their game. All artists with voices that call out to the gods! Call out to the heavens! And all responded! The energy in the room was unmatched as we were all lifted on high!

This was 54 Below’s inaugural Gospel Brunch. Don’t miss the next one. Or the next. Or the next.
