RemarkaBULL Podversations – Michael Urie

In a normal season, Red Bull Theater offers Classical Acting Masterclasses that provide adults of all levels of training or experience the opportunity to interact with and learn from some of the finest artists working in the classical theater. We also provide informative and dynamic post-performance Bull Sessions for all of our readings and productions, giving audiences a chance to discuss the work with the artists involved. COVID-19 had put a temporary stop to all that.

So we’re going virtual with RemarkaBULL Podversations. These informal, online conversations will investigate approaches to essential passages from the Shakespearean and Jacobean canon–and beyond. We hope you’ll join us!

This Monday, the inimitable MICHAEL URIE will join host NATHAN WINKELSTEIN, Red Bull’s Associate Producer, for a conversation focused on Mercutio’s “Queen Mab” speech from Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, a truly remarkable speech that has challenged every actor lucky enough to take it on. Michael was lucky enough in 2005 at the Folger Theater. He’ll tell us his approach to ‘the fairies’ midwife’ and give us a taste of his performance.

This FREE event can be viewed by anyone through a variety of Livestreams (see below).

We are also inviting up to 50 participants to connect via Zoom. These participants will have the opportunity to ask questions during the Podversation. If you would like that opportunity to participate actively, complete your free registration here. Selected registrants will receive a notification of their selection to participate by 9:00 am on Monday, April 13.
