OCTET by Dave Malloy and directed by Annie Tippe, playing at the Signature Theater through June 23 is a genius exploration of our relationship with technology and how it effects our relationship with each other. Performed by a strong ensemble of eight vocalists and actors, the piece is set in a church community room where a support group meets weekly to sing eight-part harmony hymns about walking through a forest and try to heal that which is human which has been hurt by the “stale pale glow” of our phones, tablets, and computers that we hold so close.
